How to Become a Member

RFB&D's library contains countless titles in a broad variety of subjects, from literature and history to math and the sciences, at all academic levels, from kindergarten through post-graduate and professional. Anyone with a documented disability—including a visual impairment, learning disability or other physical disability which makes reading standard print difficult or impossible—is eligible to use RFB&D's audio textbooks.  To access our library, you need to become a member. There are two types of membership: individual and institutional. Students may join as individual members or become a member through their school if the school has an RFB&D Learning Through Listening® institutional membership. Some students become members through their school and also maintain an individual membership.

In the application process, you or your school must submit a certification of your disability completed by a qualified professional in the field of disability services, special education, medicine or psychology. The certifier must be a recognized expert who attests to the physical basis of the visual, perceptual or other physical disability that limits your use of standard print.

In order to play RFB&D audiobooks, you will need to use specially adapted CD players, software, or a portable media player that supports Windows Media DRM for subscriptions. RFB&D offers a select line of players, software and accessories for nonprofit sale.

For more information, visit the Membership Section on RFB&D’s website.
