Objectives: |
Students will:
- Listen to/read Follow the Drinking Gourd by Jeanette Winter
- Use a map of the United States to determine possible routes taken along the Underground Railroad from specific slave states
- Identify how the slaves found North at night
- Create the Big Dipper or “Drinking Gourd” using construction paper and seven star stickers
- Differentiate between free and slave states
