Objectives: |
Students will:
- Listen to and/or read and discuss the book The Singing Man: Adapted from a West African Folktale by Angela Shelf Medearis.
- Locate the continent of Africa on a world map as well as locate Nigeria and other countries on the west coast of Africa.
- Describe and discuss the culture of the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria.
- Define the role of griot and list at least two instruments used by a griot.
- Complete a Choice Board (see Learning Through Listening website - Classroom Teaching Tools - Strategies).
